If a conversation goes well and you both want to swap contacts, that can come later. Leading with a handle reads as spam.
Report instead of retaliating
If someone is rude or worse, one tap on report does more than an argument, and it keeps your own record clean.
Turn off the VPN before a session
Shared addresses carry other people's history. A normal home or mobile connection avoids inheriting it.
